The prestigious Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong, founded back in 2012, currently has more than 5,000 members, has organized over 250 events, and represents one of the leading authorities when it comes to Bitcoin. This month, the entity will acquire advertising space focused on Bitcoin with money from donations with the aim to inform more and more people concerning the advantages and disadvantages of the popular cryptocurrency.
According to Leo Weese, the co-founder of the Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong, the main purpose of this campaign is to provoke thought in people who are not very familiar with Bitcoin and what it actually means, especially during this period of worldwide economic struggle. Weese also explained that Bitcoin should be seen and promoted as a means for financial inclusion, a disruptive technology, and a barrier against inflation.
It seems that five different messages will be promoted during this campaign and all of them will be focused on Bitcoin as an important tool of economic change. The campaign will actually be comprised of quotes and phrases from leading personalities in the domain and will revolve around Bitcoin’s strengths. Some of the messages that will be part of the campaign read: “Warning: Your bitcoin is your responsibility. There will be no bailouts or quantitative easing. You can verify the total supply of bitcoin with your home computer on the blockchain” or “Scarce. Divisible. Transferable. Verifiable. Tamper-proof. Bitcoin is better at being gold than gold.”
Weese also confirmed that there are currently no pushbacks concerning this innovative campaign and that all the strategy concerning it, starting with funding and ending with the design phase, only took around two weeks.
It’s interesting that many Bitcoin fans are very excited about this campaign. One of them is Martin Baumann, the co-founder of CMCC Global, who said that the entire initiative is lovely and probably the largest Bitcoin-centered campaign ever. But Hong Kong is not the only place in the world with Bitcoin trams. Switzerland also has one which has been circulating the streets of Zurich for about a year, Bitcoin Swisse recently revealed. There have been other Bitcoin campaigns but none have been as large as the one in Hong Kong which will most likely start a trend and encourage more people to adhere to Bitcoin and listen to the messages around them.
People living in Hong Kong will be able to spot the puzzle pieces of this campaign on three different trams going around the city’s financial district and also on billboards. It seems that twenty such billboards will accompany the trams and all of them will have matching designs. The Bitcoin-focused campaign has begun on September 11 and will end on October 8.
